About Dualist Inquiry

Dualist Inquiry is the solo electronic dance project of Sahej Bakshi, a producer, guitarist and composer from New Delhi, formed in 2010. He released his debut EP Dualism in June 2011, featuring a collaboration on 'Qualia' with Monica Dogra, vocalist of electro-rock outfit, Shaa'ir + Func. In December 2011, he released his first Bootleg Remix Series as free downloads from his website. Bakshi released his debut LP Doppelganger in March 2013 on Dualism Records.

He also performs with a live band set up featuring Kolkata drummer/percussionist Jiver Singh and Mumbai-based 2-step and future garage producer Sandunes. Bakshi, as Dualist Inquiry, is a seasoned performer of the music festival and club circuit in India and has performed at festivals such as Bacardi NH7 Weekender, Sunburn, Invasion Festival, Sulafest, BASS Camp Festival and India Bike Week. He has been a supporting act for a list of international producers and DJs touring India, including David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, KOAN Sound and Hexstatic. In addition, he has performed internationally at the Berlin Music Week (2010) and the Great Escape Festival (2011) where he opened for Beardyman and DJ Shadow.

Sahej Bakshi graduated from the Thornton School of Music at USC in Los Angeles, California. Bakshi, who learned to play guitar at age nine, formed a school rock band with actor-musician Imaad Shah while they were at Doon School in Dehradun. Shah was the vocalist and bassist, and Bakshi was the lead guitarist of the group, which performed covers of hits by Rage Against the Machine, Green Day and Blink 182. The band split up after they left school, with Shah coming to Mumbai to study at St. Xavier's College and Bakshi moving to Los Angeles to study at the Thornton School of Music. Bakshi entered college wanting to become a professional guitar player, but by the time he graduated, he had decided to become an electronic musician. He returned home to New Delhi in February 2010 and played his first full-fledged gig, a set at The Holi Cow festival. He frequently combines guitar licks with his sequencer but the electro-rock sounds don't stick to any one genre; Bakshi has been known to jump styles and create electronica within a dynamic variety of genres and influences.
